Position Description
CGI Global Infrastructure Solutions is looking for a senior network engineer to join our growing team in Boston , MA. The successful candidate will provide network engineering and support of our large multi-tenant data center and network.

Responsibilities

- Plan, design, build, and install new network capabilities based on customer/internal requirements

- Respond quickly and effectively to network issues and outages

- Utilize network monitoring tools to proactively address capacity, performance, and availability issues before service degradation occurs

- Perform system maintenance on network hardware/software as required

- Provide recommendations to improve design and reduce cost of existing network

- Work with the security team to insure security best practices are followed in the network

- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for network support

- Identify technologies and products to improve network capabilities

- Provide technical leadership to more junior team members


Qualifications

- Minimum of 5-10 years progressive experience as network engineer

- B.S. degree in computer science or similar preferred

- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, IP subnetting, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and network management

- Experience with MPLS, point-to-point, VPN, and other WAN connectivity options

- Detailed understanding of switching, VLANs, VRF and related technologies

- Extensive experience with Cisco switches and routers, including Nexus, series switches and ASR routers

- Cisco CCNA / CCNP certification preferred

- Detailed understanding of network security, including firewalls and VPNs

- Experience with Cisco ASA firewalls and Checkpoint preferred

- Experience with F5 load balancers preferred

- - Must be detail-oriented with good organization skills

- Excellent troubleshooting skills

- Ability to learn quickly and work independently

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Professional and ethical at all times

- Energy, initiative, and a positive attitude

The US GISOD Team is a leveraged organization and many of our members support multiple client projects. These client contracts may require background checks for all members working within the client environment. Additionally, some require screening above and beyond what is required as standard screening for CGI employment in the US; to include, but not limited to, additional criminal history, drug screening and credit reporting in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. These background checks are client specific and in most cases are not transferable from one client account to the next. In order to meet the requirements of a leveraged organization, members of the US GISOD team may be required to complete multiple background checks during their career at CGI to include obtaining security clearances. All new hires into the US GISOD team will be required to complete client background check requests within the timeframe stated in the client contract, as a condition of employment with CGI.
