Position Description:

As Product Manager, you will be the IT Lead responsible for managing an individual IT Product, working closely with the Product Owner in the business throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities include co-creating the product vision, executing discovery and customer research, and ensuring delivery of the Product roadmap with the IT delivery organization. The Product Manager will have full or partial accountability to manage relevant stakeholders, budget, resources, technology roadmap, strategic dependencies, execution, maintenance of the product, and business alignment. As Product Line Manager (PLM), manages E2E IT delivery to serve business outcomes across single products or application portfolios. Owns an IT Product Line and is accountable for its strategy, design, development, enhancement, delivery, pricing, and cost recovery. PLM leads the natural team and drives it towards business value. Next to this strategic element, the PLM can go deeper and deal with service and operations to safeguard the overall health of the product line. Is likely to face up to a more senior colleague who has full accountability for the business outcome. The PLM has an indirect interface to the IT Engineering Organization for delivery capabilities and escalations. Portfolio scope is for a product or products used across multiple businesses or functions or both. A medium level of change management is required. Has frequent exposure to and interaction with senior levels of business leadership (EC-2 and EC-3). Works independently with some managerial supervision. Delivers the work as assigned, applying the work procedures, frameworks. The guidance is provided for those tasks where there is limited precedents available.

This role is based in Houston, Texas.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The Product Manager will guide product management activities for the SPDC suite of Trader support tools, with a focus on Energy.
• Commercial Mindset o Championing/Selling AssetSim.
• Expertise in understanding business problems, and identifying how AssetSim can help solve them.
• • Domain Knowledge Understand the electricity space well enough to identify opportunities to apply AssetSim. For example, being able to correctly pitch AssetSim on networking calls and discover through an organic conversation where AssetSim can be applied.
• Know enough about the electricity space to understand the value that AssetSim provides and the needs that it fills. Be able to discuss electricity market dynamics (ex: day-ahead vs real-time, what are ancillary market products) with customers in a productive way.
• Be able to understand and discuss the differences between the actual electricity markets and electricity assets and how we model them. Understand how our models do not reflect reality and take a leading role in determining trade-offs between engineering effort vs modeling accuracy vs what is truly valuable to the customer.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Experience in planning the work for engineers/product analysts and play an active role in facilitating what the testers focus on. Keep in mind each person’s approximate backlog to ensure there is enough work, have a system to ensure the work is getting done in a timely fashion, and personally support where needed.
• The Analytical Toolkit (ATK) Product Manager should fully own the vision of the products.
• Experience in data science (ML & optimization), orchestration to automate trading strategies, and a user interface that provides insights & controls to traders.
• Knowledge in Python and ability to test, run, and QA AssetSim in Python.
• Have baseline knowledge of how software is built to ease conversations with the tech lead and engineers (ex: what are unit tests, what is a dict/list/function, how are JSONs use to pass data from app to app.
• Who can intake disparate business needs, aggregate them into potential product features / strategic directions, and correctly prioritize.
• Experience with or a willingness to learn about optimization. Estimate ~25-30% of the time to be spent working on Optimization activities that are directly related to AssetSim requirements. While these activities may be picked up by the Optimization team, it will be important for the Analytical Toolkit (ATK) PM to understand in detail how Optopy fits into AssetSim and be able to test and understand Optopy outputs.
