Position Description:

CGI is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer with 8+ years of overall experience using different programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, Scala, along with ability to pick up new languages. Experience with cloud technologies, specifically within the AWS ecosystem, DevOps, DataBricks, Airflow, YAML, Spark, and S3. Past demonstrable programming experience with exposure to big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Kafka.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Working with Product Owners and Data Analysts to understand business requirements and define technical solutions
• Design, develop, maintain and take ownership of code
• Design reusable components, user defined functions
• Experience and knowledge of data architecture and concepts of relational and dimensional databases
• Experience with enterprise application architecture and enterprise integration patterns
• Perform complex applications programming activities. Code, test, debug, document, maintain, and modify complex applications program
• Examine and solve the performance bottlenecks in the ETL processes
• Drive solution design thought leadership, for a customer –centric perspective
• Ability to understand and translate business requirements into meaningful end to end solutions
• Lead team in collaborative development of prototypes for demonstration of concepts
• Understand functional specifications and use case designs.
• Determines user requirement feasibility, supports solution design, project planning, establishes priorities and monitors progress
• Implements technical changes to improve the team's effectiveness
• Plan out system enhancement implementation roadmap
• Resolve conflicting priority among projects and ad-hoc requests
• Coordinates with team resources to integrate project with other applications and releases and ensure appropriate skillset alignment and staffing
• Participate in and growing strategic partner relationships to support growing demands on the delivery organization
• Guide development and data engineering resources through migration to Agile development methodologies

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Strong expertise with DevOps tools and approaches, and engineering products to be both reliable and adaptable.
• Experience of deploying and managing large-scale, cloud-based solutions.
• Experience creating benchmark tests, designing for scalability and performance, and designing/integrating large-scale systems.
• Ability to perform analysis of business problems and technical environments.
• Proven track record of success in challenging the status quo, implementing new ideas and designs with a practical orientation.
• Ability to think strategically and implement iteratively. Ability to estimate financial impact of design/architecture alternatives.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Solid oral and written communication skills.
• A track record and a passion for being a team player, with the ability to take the lead when needed and also coach and develop others when needed.
• Passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
• Open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
• Passionate about all things big data of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
• Good experience in modern software engineering practices (Continuous Integration, Specification by Example, Behavior / Test Driven Development – BDD, TDD) and respective tools,
