Position Description:

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of our largest and longest running Space projects. The management segment is composed of multiple subsystems each employing its own selected technology stack. Many of the sub-systems contain components are built in Java. This exciting role requires an experienced and dynamic Java developer to work across these sub-systems to design and develop new features alongside maintaining the existing components. The successful candidate must be able to get up to speed quickly with a number of complex problem domains and deliver high quality work packages to challenging timescales. You will be working as part of skilled and committed team.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The role offers an ideal opportunity to gain experience in leading a subsystem and design authority expertise. You should be capable of taking features from concept through the whole software development and test life-cycle. You should have experience in developing quality software to commercial standards. You should be able to give material feedback to junior developers and be open to receiving constructive feedback on your own work. Excellent team working and communication skills are essential. The requirements, the technologies and the problems we will be solving can change at short notice. We need developers who are pragmatic and delivery focused, who can adapt as situations evolve, who enjoy new experiences and always want to learn new things. Updating project documentation is an important part of the role which must be performed to the projects high quality standards. To work on this project, you will need to be a UK National and be willing to obtain UK security clearance.

• Work as part of the development team to deliver new capability to the project, refresh existing functionality whilst supporting the existing system
• Take an active part in design changes;
• Produce and update documentation at a defined standard;
• Design, code, and unit test assigned work packages;
• Support FAT/SAT, sys test and other assurance activities;
• Support the live system as required.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Minimum of two years Java development on Windows;

• Able for occasional travel to sites within the M3/M4 corridor
