Position Description:

Are you motivated by the opportunity to work on Galileo? Galileo is EU’s own global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and currently consists of a constellation of 24 satellites. It is capable of providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. The system is under constant development and has recently entered the Exploitation Phase.

Your future commitment and responsibilities
To strengthen our team we are looking for a Junior / Medior Security Engineer. In this role you will be part of the security team of a larger project team that is responsible for delivery of the secure key management capabilities for the Public Regulated Service (encrypted navigation service for governmental authorized users and sensitive applications that require high continuity) of the Galileo Mission Segment. You will play a key role in the delivery of mission-critical systems for one of the most prestigious space programmes.

As a security engineer you are responsible for undertaking the various analyses required to understand the security risks to the system designs, and to define and design the security measures needed to provide the justified levels of security. You have affinity with complex systems and are able to define the security requirements and design for (space) systems. This security role requires a basic understanding of a broad range of security aspects including but not limited to: network security, cryptography, application security, and security management.

Your responsibilities include:
• Performing security vulnerability analysis on the system components;
• Performing security analysis on software that enters the project environment;
• Aligning with the Design Authority team to ensure a resilient system;
• Define technical security measures;
• Supporting and advising the Development team on the implementation of security requirements;
• Supporting and advising the Acceptance, Integration and Validation team before and during the security requirements test campaign;
• Technical writing and reviewing of security documentation for the project and element;
• Supporting the security accreditation process;
• Advertise and setting the example on the security measures in the working environment within the project team.

Qualifications to thrive/flourish/prosper in this role
• High technical understanding of complex systems and (security) architectures

Essential qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (HBO or WO) or higher with a focus on Computer Science, Information Technology/Communications, or equivalent.
• Experience as a security engineer

Desired qualifications
• Experience with space projects
• Experience with security evaluation and accreditation
• Security certifications (CSSLP, CISSP, etc.)

Professional attributes
• You have demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills in the English language while working in a team

** Eligibility by holding a EU passport is mandatory for an EU Personal Security Clearance at the level of EU Secret is part of the selection procedure.
