CGI UK Careers: Roles explained in 90 seconds - Agile Software Engineer - ADS

Position Description:

Our Tribe is gathering. Join our Agile team and transform businesses and the lives of UK citizens. As an experienced Front End Software Engineer, you can join a high-profile initiative within CGI – being part of a key group using Agile, DevOps and Lean practices to help clients realise their digital transformation ambitions.

Across the Commercial and Government sectors, CGI is supporting and leading this transformation. As part of our Agile Digital Services team, you will help empower clients to increase business agility and deliver greater value, early and incrementally.

CGI was voted ‘Best Workplace’ by Great Place To Work in 2021, and offers a competitive salary, excellent pension, private healthcare, plus a share scheme (3% + 3% matching) which makes you a member, not just an employee.

You must already hold, or be prepared to undergo, National Security Vetting (NSV) enhanced Security Check (SC) level.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

As one of our Front End Software Engineers, you’ll be joining a cross-functional Agile delivery team. You will be working on the design and development of web-based UI applications and delivering iteratively within an Agile environment.

You’ll transition prototypes through to tech design and implementation, and you’ll test and fix components and pages to meet accessibility standards. The role will need your ability to implement front end design, build re-useable UI components and work with UX designers to ensure viability.

A CGI career within our Agile Tribe will let you stand out, influence and shape a UK team, backed by one of the largest independent technology and business services companies in the world.

You’ll also discover:

● A unique level of variety across different clients and industry sectors
● High-profile, interesting and challenging projects to stretch your skills
● Training and support
● Impactful work that makes a real difference in our communities

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

● Front End development experience in an Agile environment – familiar with Scrum, Kanban or SAFe
● Experience with JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 and frameworks like React, Angular, Svelte
● Knowledge of version control systems and workflows (Git), automated browser testing and debugging
● Working experience of Continuous Integration & Delivery and DevOps tools and practices – GitLab or Jenkins, Jira/Confluence, Docker
● Ideally – but not essential – any experience with Typescript, NodeJS, npm, GraphQL, Bootstrap, Redux, JS build tools, unit testing frameworks, W3C WCAG 2.1

Our working approach is built around our clients’ needs. That’s not to say yours aren’t important too and in a post-pandemic world, we want to extend the offer of an open discussion to you as to whether a role can be office or home-based, flexible or hybrid.

We celebrate and reward our colleagues through a variety of methods, and we promote the health and well-being of our members through a range of programmes and activities. We are also committed to ensuring a safe work environment through the prevention of harmful workplace incidents including physical harm, harassment and violence.

Unconditionally inclusive – we know diversity brings a greater variety of ideas, perspectives and experiences to the workplace. We actively encourage diversity at CGI and inclusivity is one of our top priorities, with support networks for Parents, Women, LGBT+, BAME, Neurodiversity and Disability.
