We support some of the most advanced satellite systems in the world, designing and supporting ground segment command and data processing systems, as well as network architecture. This is an opportunity to join a growing team supporting the development of mission-critical systems and applications.
The successful candidate will be a member of the team in charge of building Earth Observation derived products using spatial data to be integrated with our proprietary data processing platform and/or a client specific platform.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
The Earth Observation Data Scientist is responsible for working closely with the Canadian Space Sector Lead and Strategic Business Units on developing new solutions to practical problems, building full-stack analysis solutions using earth observation data, and prototyping/testing/deploying complex data processing chains to solve most of the most challenging and impactful problems for key sectors including Natural Resources, Environment, Insurance, Communications, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Agriculture, etc. This individual will assist with the overall strategy and business chase activities, working with multiple stakeholders.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
•At least 5 years of experience developing data solutions using advanced analytics, predictive modeling and a variety of data sources to produce actionable business insights
•Advanced Degree (MSc or PhD) in Physics, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, or similar field
•Experience working to ideate, conceptualize, design, develop and maintain AI/ML algorithms that provide data insights
•Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for a solution and taking into account strategic and tactical aspects
•Demonstrated expertise in Python-based software architecture design and development
•Experience working with the following libraries/technologies: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Geopandas, Xarray, Shapely, Dask, Tensorflow
•Knowledge and experience working with open source standards, particularly as defined by the Open Geospatial Consortium
•Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
•Assist in the development and delivery of pre and post sales POCs, presentations and proposals for client engagements
•Travel periodically in support of sales and delivery as needed
•Eligibility to apply for and hold a Canadian security clearance.
