Position Description:

Working as a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for providing product support for state government environmental protective software. This involves writing change requests and designs and attending and conducting requirement sessions. Requirements and designs should follow project standards and articulate the solution on an appropriate level. The business analyst will also provide client walkthrough of design documents, when requested, and work with the team to address review comments.

The business analyst will ensure development team understanding of the designs and will participate in all phases of functional and user acceptance testing. The business analyst will be a member of a team responsible for enhancement testing as well as maintenance support triaging defects and testing solutions for six customers.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Create screen mock-ups and document process flow diagrams
• Create comprehensive detailed design documents using requirements gathered through change requests, JAD sessions or design meetings as input.
• Create systems documentation, help documentation, training documentation and user guides regarding functionality, processes, and user interaction for new or existing systems
• Create test plans, traceability matrices, test scenarios, and test cases for functionality testing
• Enter, track, and manage functional system or process issues
• Execute functionality testing and maintain accurate documentation regarding the test effort. Identify and log system incidents and defects and retest fixes.
• Provide support to user staff and external stakeholders during preparation and execution of user acceptance testing
• Provide support and/or knowledge transfer to functional and technical staff, internal users, and external users in the support and use of new or existing functionality.
• Provide general production support for the existing system

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Experience working with business users to gather requirements.
• Experience in requirement documentation and communicating them with design, development and testing teams at a detailed level.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of database structures and SQL familiarity.
• Ability to communicate a business understanding of a system but also have familiarity with technical details to communicate with development staff.
• Should have 1-5 years of business analysis experience
• Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle and/or Agile development methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse personality types and understand technical issues.
• Intermediate user of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Expertise in the environmental state government space is helpful but not required, i.e. permitting, licensing, compliance, etc.


Est. Salary Range (Colorado Only): $56,000-$74,000*

Therefore, this good faith salary range will only apply where this described position will be performed in the state, and should not be considered the compensation range in other locations or for other positions.
