CGI is looking for a self-motivated Master-level DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of experience and expertise to support a large program within the Federal Government. Successful candidates must have experience serving as DevOps engineer of complex technology implementations in a COTS product-centric SaaS environment. Comfortable with bridging the gap between legacy development and operations teams and working toward a shared culture and vision. Works tirelessly to arm developers with the best tools and ensuring system uptime and performance. Successful candidates will also have hands-on technical expertise in DevOps, and apply leadership in any phase of the system development life cycle with a high level of technical expertise. Utilize an accomplished knowledge of multiple technical disciplines, unique applications, and business management practices to develop technical and/or business solutions to client problems. May be required to act as a technical supervisor.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Deploying and configuring services using infrastructure as a service (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google etc.)
• Experience working in Cloud environment (Microsoft Azure preferred) • Maintain and improve CI/CD and automated testing pipelines • Using scripting or basic programming skills to solve problems • Installation and management of open source monitoring tools • Configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt) • Architecture for continuous integration and deployment, and continuous monitoring • Containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Rocket) Additional future duties and responsibilities: • Participate in defining the overall technology roadmap for the program • Configure and maintain infrastructure configuration management platforms • Help improve the overall software development workflow or value streams • Coach and mentor other developers in most current practices in this field • Contribute in teams continuous learning and improvement goals • Be a good team member, and contribute to overall team success outside of primary role • Design, build and maintain: o Automated build and deployment tools (such as Azure DevOps) o Cloud automation, networking, security, management, and monitoring • Develop multiple projects and tasks, providing engineering and production support, organized through the Scrum/Kanban Agile process, participate in daily standup and drives solutions for production issues across the organization • Proactively identify problems with requirements (lack of clarity, inconsistencies, and technical limitations) for their own work and adjacent work and communicates these issues early to help course-correct • Comply and follow system architecture processes and other requirements within documentation tool • Create, review, and respond to service tickets in ticketing system and system alerts in internal and external alerting and metrics systems • Be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours monitoring, maintenance, and escalations • Picks up new technologies and patterns quickly and contribute in a leading role to new designs and solutions • Review solutions and work products for completeness, architectural integrity, security, extensibility and maintainability • Ability to investigate new technologies and make recommendations based on cost, efficiency, and matching best in class technologies that meet customer needs
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with scripting languages • Experience with UNIX/Linux systems administration • Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) and supporting automated testing • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Splunk. • Experience with Git as a version control system • Experience with infrastructure as code tools • Experience with configuration management tooling • Experience designing, developing, deploying, testing in the Azure ecosystem or similar cloud provider • A team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Previous experience working as a software developer (MS Technology Stack preferred) • Azure Certified Solutions Architect or Developer • Experience mentoring junior developers in DevOps practices • Knowledge of CRM products in SaaS environment • Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, Travis, Bamboo) • Containers and container orchestration platforms
