Position Description:

Due to ongoing growth and success in the province of BC, CGI is seeking an experienced Technical Architect to join our world-class IT solution company in a permanent full-time role in our office in Victoria, BC. This is senior level role providing leading information technology services to our clients in BC.

We are seeking a talented individual who has a minimum of five (8) years working experience in technical architecture. The ideal candidate will want to work in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment where he or she works closely with our internal and external clients. Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Provide software development technical expertise and guidance to key stakeholders on a variety of enterprise scale applications and projects;
• Work closely with clients, project managers, business analysts, and software developers in order to develop effective and high-quality enterprise software solutions;
• Ensure that appropriate methods and tools for the planning, development, testing, operation, management and maintenance of systems are adopted and used effectively throughout the organization;
• Understand and apply a variety of project life-cycles, methods, and software development techniques;
• Identify the use of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies and products, services, methods and techniques, and the assessment of their relevance and potential value as business enablers, improvements in cost/performance or sustainability;
• Promote emerging technology awareness among staff and business management;
• Understand and follow policies and procedures such as change management, project governance, configuration management, and release management;
• Aid in the diagnosis, correction, and prevention of service outages, defects, and other production or operational issues;
• Willing to understand, learn, and work with a variety of products and technologies related to the Java Enterprise platform and custom software application development, including some or all of:
o Java EE technologies and application servers.
o Continuous integration and release management concepts.
o CASE tools such as Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Strong knowledge of systems architecture concepts and methods;
• University/College degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education;
• Minimum (8) years technical architecture experience preferably with strategic and enterprise level applications/solutions;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Highly self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision;
• Advanced expertise in a variety of technologies and products related to Java EE;
• Certifications in information technology, technical architecture, and related products including TOGAF, OpenCA, PMP, ITIL, etc. is considered an asset
• Familiarity with BC provincial (or other public sector) IT environment and security policies is considered an asset.
