Position Description:
Join this critical project as an SQL DBA Performance Engineer in an Azure environment! With your required expertise, you will work with a hard-working client-based and client-facing team. You will have the opportunity to show and grow with technology in a customer-facing role.
CGI Is seeking a self-motivated Engineer to drive solutions and proactively build (in sufficient detail) the documentation required to support and describe technical solutions.
You should be able to work independently under limited supervision and apply your knowledge. You should have sufficient knowledge and understanding to address technical issues and help support the broader team. Your success will be directly related to CGI’s and our client’s success.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure stability, scalability and efficient performance of core & UM & analytics platforms majorly based on SQL Server platform (SQL Database engine, SQL Reporting Service, Integration Service, Analysis Services)
• Proactive performance monitoring & optimization
• Provide Architectural mentorship on Scalability, Reliability & Resilience
• Maintain performance at acceptable levels and Reporting performance metrics to leadership
• Collaborate with operations/business teams in event of production issues
• Collaborate with Development and Operations teams around design changes, passionate about scalability/reliability/performance/migration/upgrades to ensure availability, reliability & performance
• Release management
• Perform Code reviews
• Perform CICD/Deployments
• Setting up code review standards and practices
• Good at documenting processes and findings
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 7 years or more of experience in Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2017
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Azure Database Platforms: SQL Managed Instance, SQL VM, SQL DB, SQL Data Warehouse/Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks
• Elastic pools for scale and performance on Azure
• Ensure Capacity and Storage planning
• Extensive understanding of DBA concepts.
• T-SQL (scripting, stored procedures, triggers, query development)
• Clustering/Always On technology, Log Shipping, Replication, HA
• Database and SQL Performance Analysis (Index Management and Query Plan Assessment)
• SQL installation and configuration
• Support and RCA experience, Incident Management
• Able to recommend, set and apply Standards and Best Practices
• ITIL: Change Process and Procedures
• SQL monitoring tools (Idera, Spotlight, SCOM, Zabbix, SQL Sentry, Foglight, Azure SQL Analytics)
• Experience with ETL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, OLAP, OLTP
• Security and User Management, including Azure AD Integration and Identities
• Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery Procedures
• Standardized Database Maintenance
• Requests including (Installs, Performance Analysis, Security Management, SQL Job Management, Index Maintenance, and fix) – SNOW/Cherwell
• Data Replication/Streaming (Qlik, SQL Server Replication, Kafka)
Non-Technical Qualifications:
• Documentation Development
• Good Interpersonal and Communications Skills
• Occasional shift schedule for support of the operational database environment
• Multiple location support
• Capable of working independently and in a team
• Meet SLAs set forth by Customers/clients
• Project Management
• Inventory Management and Audit
• Mentoring Junior DBAs
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $84,000 - 161,600.
