Position Description:

Due to ongoing growth and success in the province of BC, CGI is seeking an experienced architect to join our world-class IT company in a permanent full-time role in our office in Victoria BC. This is senior level role providing leading information technology services to our clients in BC.

We are seeking an inspired problem solver who is enthusiastic about developing high-quality software and making a difference. This talented individual has a minimum of ten (10) years’ progressive experience designing and developing superior enterprise applications, is a generalist with an extensive background in the prevalent technologies in wide use today, with an awareness of new emerging ideas. The ideal candidate will want to work in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment, working closely with our internal and external clients. The person filling this role will be fully accountable for product quality with a clear understanding of what true quality means. • Work in a team-oriented environment, providing technical expertise and guidance to key stakeholders on a broad range of development projects;
• Participate on various engagement pursuit teams, designing superior solution models that meet or exceed client requirements;
• Validate design proposals for new solutions and technical reviews of existing systems;
• Collaborate closely with clients and team members to understand the business requirements, systems flow, data usage, and work processes that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions;
• Define, analyze and validate detailed system architecture, requirements and design;
• Evaluate changes and perform impact analysis;
• Review and validate system deliverables to maintain the integrity of system architecture;
• Apply SDLC concepts and best practices for designing, coding, testing and implementing application software that is delivered on time and within budget;
• Provide recommendations on how to replace customized functionality with out-of-the box solutions, assessing COTS solutions and integration;
• Document, evaluate and propose architecture and design alternatives;
• Mentor developers and other resources (technical and non-technical) in all aspects of development
• Successfully support the assessment of current architectures, recommend and document a road map to implement future architectures;
• Follow policies and procedures such as change management, project governance and software configuration management;
• Ramp up quickly on new technologies, languages, frameworks, and approaches;
• Employ excellent verbal, written and presentation skills to clearly express and communicate concepts, designs and proposals.

• University/College degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field
• Minimum ten (10) years progressive software development experience, dealing with complex enterprise level applications
• Strong knowledge of enterprise and solution architecture concepts, values, methodologies, and differentiators
• Certifications such as Oracle/Sun, IASA, TOGAF, ITAC, ITIL, PMP, etc
• High level of self-motivation, a proactive mindset and a capacity for operating with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Track record for providing thought leadership to technical team members
• Advanced technical expertise in a variety of technologies and technical areas such as:
• Web and Application Servers
• Web Technologies such as JavaScript and HTML5
• Modeling skills/UML, BPEL/BPMN
• SharePoint, Oracle, Java
• Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, Clustering and High Availability
• Message Broker, Security/Identity Management
• UI and Graphic Design
• Cloud, Mobile, Desktop/Client Server, and Network solutions

• Sparx Enterprise
• Experience in Government or public sector environments
• Oracle Fusion Middleware
