Position Description:

CGI wants to change the way our customers develop software and we’re looking for individuals who are highly skilled with a positive energy to join us on this journey. Our DevOps practice coaches will act as change agents for our clients and disseminate DevOps culture and practices. The coach will design and execute custom training plans at a development team level with a focus on sustainability.

Who are You?

You have superb experience on the development side of the world but you’re never satisfied with the status quo and comfortable isn’t your desired position - you’re always looking for ways to improve and change. You’re the person on a development team who always has their hand up volunteering to try new things and you knew what Docker was before someone else heard about it at a conference.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Introduce development teams to DevOps practices and culture
• Ensure teams has a clear understanding of continuous integration, delivery and deployment
• Engage executive technical leadership to understand where they want their developments to go on their DevOps journey
• Work with teams to understand their technical environment and development methodologies currently practiced
• Design a bespoke coaching plan based a combination of desired state and technical reality
• Execute on coaching plan iteratively, on the ground, with the development team
• Conduct boot camps and workshops for development team to skill up developers
• Drive discussions on code structure, refactoring, technical debt and coding best practices, to help teams develop supportable code
• Act as an Agile and DevOps change agent
• Work with the CGI coaching team to build our practice

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Must be deeply knowledgeable, with practical experience using .NET or Java frameworks
• Understand the difference between static and dynamic programming languages
• Experience using various front end web frameworks (Angular, jQUery)
• Experience with Continuous Integration orchestration (Bamboo, Jenkins)
• Practical usage of various source control systems (Git, SVN, ClearCase)
• Understanding of Repository management applications (BitBucket, GitHub)
• Sysadmin experience (Linux, UNIX, Windows, OSX)
• Knowledge of IaaS providers (AWS, Azure, Openstack)
• Knowledge of PaaS providers (Heroku)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Salt)
• Webserver development experience (Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere)
• Understanding of containerization (Docker, Rkt, OCI)
• Knowledge of caching technologies (Reddis, Memcache, Varnish)
• Practical experience or certification with/in Agile Scrum
• Understanding of XP Development practices (TDD, Peer Programming)
• Experience using testing tools as part of CI (JUnit, NUnit, XUnit, Cucumber, Selenium)
