In this role you will lead the development of high profile public digital services with major public sector clients throughout the UK – responsible for the most ambitious digital transformation programmes in the world and modernising the UK’s justice system.Due to the nature of the role all candidates must either already hold or be willing and eligible to hold UK Security Clearance to SC level.
The role of DCS (Software Engineering) involves the creation, deployment and growth of high performing multi-disciplinary teams that build and support digital services, following user centred design and government digital service standards. The teams are skilled at working in agile, scaled agile and hybrid software delivery approaches.As DCS you will lead the development of key London-based agile delivery teams (approx 15/20 reports), working on-site with our clients to solve their issues and identify new projects, whilst drawing on CGI’s global capabilities to deliver these for them.This is an opportunity for an ambitious, self-motivated individual to help us achieve our business strategy by recruiting, developing and deploying teams into large scaled agile programmes, following microservices based application architectures using CI/CD methods.You’ll be tasked with; Delivering and continually improving high quality services Developing and maintaining strong relationships with justice sector clients Developing further business opportunities from idea to successful deployment Assigning, recruiting and supporting the career development of team members Fostering the development of the team’s capabilities and expertise in line with client needs/market evolution Leading, managing and growing the team to achieve targeted revenue and profitability
You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the ability to: work in an intensive, rapidly changing environment lead a diverse group of members through challenging work adapt effectively and decisively using innovative solutions and approaches understand open source tooling and development practices, and the technical challenges faced by development teams adopt a pragmatic approach to agile development processes be willing to be “constructively disruptive” work on projects that follow Government Digital Service (GDS) standards – previous experience in this domain (GDS) is highly desirable. Regardless of your background you should be someone passionate about software and applications development, you’ll be someone who understands developers and what makes them tick, and know how to identify and nurture great developers. You’ll understand that software development is complex, and be fascinated with how teams of developers work together, and how you get the most out of them.
