Position Description:

CGI is currently looking for a User Experience (UX) Designer, Research, to join our team in Victoria. Our Digital Transformation Practice is at the forefront in creating engaging user experiences that transform complex tasks into intuitive, accessible and easy to use digital products and cross-channel services.

We are looking for a professional UX Designer with the ability to create, organize, and execute user and stakeholder research, including contextual interviews, co-design sessions, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and data analysis. You will present findings through compelling recommendations, journey maps, and service blueprints. You will inform the development of prototypes and product strategy. Ideally, you will have experience developing design artifacts such as wireframes, interaction flows and content strategy.

This role requires someone who is responsible for driving and executing the research strategy, and ensuring that user insights continuously inform the development of digital products and cross-channel services. You will work as part of an agile team, providing a range of research activities to inform iterative development You will regularly interact with product owners, service designers, interaction designers, developers and other team members to understand and guide research requirements, including designing and conducting research activities.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Being part of this exciting, client focused team, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and executing research plans to inform development of digital products and cross-channel services
• Working closely with the agile product team by participating in business discovery, sprint planning, daily scrums, team co-design sessions and design reviews
• Sharing insights from research and communicate key feedback from users
Develop research presentation artifacts such as journey maps and service blueprints
• Creating, organizing, and executing user and stakeholder research, including contextual interviews, co-design sessions, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and data analysis
• Researching consumer behaviors and expectations
• Preparing and delivering persuasive presentations of findings and recommendations for improvements to clients and stakeholders at all levels
• Translating UX recommendations and data-driven decisions for feature/function concepts into visual designs such as wireframes and prototypes

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Required Level of Education:

• University or College graduate in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, UX, or related discipline or proven work experience as a UX Designer or similar role

The UX Designer role involves interacting with a wide range of clients, stakeholders, and team members. Required soft skills include:

• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Detail oriented and meticulous
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach
• Experience working on an Agile team is an asset
• Skilled at communication with people who aren’t familiar with design, comfortable working alongside clients during the design process, and are excited to work with people on research and testing.

Additional Skills:

• 3+ years of related industry experience working as a user experience designer
• A strong portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
• Experience with service design methodologies, including user and stakeholder research beyond digital environments
