The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work, build, and operate bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems which help our clients keep us all safe and secure. The role will require attendance several days per week at one of the programme’s office locations in Leatherhead and Reading, particularly in the early phases of the project. This is necessary for team collaboration and because some project environments can only be accessed from these office locations.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Join us in a dynamic Software Developer role where you'll find yourself at the heart of collaboration and innovation! You'll be based at our Leatherhead or Reading office locations, where team synergy thrives, especially during the project's initial phases. This on-site presence is crucial for seamless teamwork and accessing secure project environments.
You'll embark on a journey to uplift existing .Net applications to the latest Visual Studio version, integrating cutting-edge libraries and supporting code. These applications will undergo rigorous testing on modern Operating Systems, with necessary adjustments made for compatibility.
Our aim is to transition towards automated deployment methodologies. Your task will involve scripting each application's installation process using adaptable tools like PowerShell, DSC, and Ansible. Through this streamlined approach, we'll seamlessly deploy applications across diverse environments, ensuring efficiency at every step.

Key Duties:
• Understanding the overall scope of the changes required.
• Non-functional uplift of existing .Net and similar applications to use latest supported versions of tools and libraries.
• Application inventory and scripted install automation using PowerShell DSC and Ansible.
• Supporting application deployment through the various development, test, and production environments.
• Ensure correct documentation is created and kept up to date.
